When The Driver Era hit the road for their first large-scale tour, LMG Touring knew we could provide more than just stellar gear. We knew they’d need a crew that could deliver without hesitation.

ENTER SAM

As part of LMG’s network of dedicated full-time technicians, Sam (they/them) brings their technical precision, leadership, and deep familiarity with our gear to every stop on the tour. It’s that level of consistency that sets LMG Touring apart.

With a background in live event production, Sam initially joined LMG through the FlexForce program, where they had the opportunity to build their skillset and gain hands-on experience in our operations. That early exposure helped them build a strong foundation in our workflows and equipment before transitioning into our technical apprentice program at The CoiL Learning Center.

Motivated to learn and face new challenges, Sam quickly found their niche in the ever-changing, innovative world of LED. It wasn’t long into the training program that Sam found themself supporting LED builds on LMG shows, eventually earning an official spot on the LED Technical Services team in 2022.

BUILT TO LEAD

With a reputation for flawless execution and unwavering resiliency, Sam is mastering the art of LED for both corporate shows and tours, becoming a trusted force behind the scenes. Now on the road with The Driver Era as LED Crew Chief, Sam is not only leading the video wall build but also managing rigging alongside the lighting crew chief, coordinating pre-production logistics, and collaborating across departments to adapt the rig to each unique venue.
    Taking on this role has come with its fair share of challenges, but for Sam, that’s part of the appeal.

    “LED is still constantly growing and constantly changing… There’s always a little bit of a challenge, so I never feel stuck.”

    TECHNOLOGY THAT INSPIRES

    That drive to keep learning and exploring new possibilities is inspired by the creative ways LED can be used to elevate live experiences. One standout element of The Driver Era tour is the use of the ROE Vanish V8T tile.
    “I truly love this product, especially for touring… Everything locks together so seamlessly… The way this production is utilizing this product is very, very inspiring.”
    With 50% transparency, the tiles allow lighting and performers to shine through the video wall, creating amazing visuals that resonate.
